This page is about our hens and Roger, the bantam cockerel
We now have 3 hens, but none are laying at the moment! The white one is a light sussex and is called White Chicken, and the other is a black rock called Black Chicken! Although she looks totally black, there is a beautiful green sheen to her feathers in the daylight. Normally, their eggs would be used for breakfast. The colour of the yolks is second to none in yellowness! They have run of part of the back garden, together with Roger, our cockerel. We believe he maybe a Phoenix fowl x Black Tailed Buff Japanese Bantam but this hasn't been confirmed. Although he looks after his ladies, we haven't been lucky enough to have any chicks possibly as he is quite small compared to them!

White Chicken became broody this summer and we put half a dozen eggs under her. We were lucky to have one hatch mid July. Initially we couldn't tell whether it was a boy or girl, but now it's clear she is a hen. We have called her Tilly, or Little Chicken.
